LateBoof sends river gauge readings and flow alerts by SMS to whitewater paddlers in the United States and Canada. Two kinds of messages exist, and both require your opt-in first:

If you text a river name to the LateBoof toll-free number, that message is your opt-in to receive one reply per request with the reading you asked for. We send nothing else to your number unless you separately sign up for flow alerts above. Message and data rates may apply to each reply.
